SEARCHING for cheap designer sunglasses for women? It may sound like an impossible contradiction, but there’s no need to break the bank when you know where to shop.

Designer specs last longer, look sleek and, let's face it: your eyes deserve to be treated well. And whether you’re looking for luxury prescription styles or stylish sunnies for making a statement, we've found the best styles for you here.

Sunglasses are an affordable way to add a touch of your favourite high fashion labels to your daily wardrobe – you don’t have to spend thousands, or even hundreds, on them like you would a bag or a pair of shoes.

If you have to wear glasses for your sight every day, what better reason than to invest in a high-quality pair of prescription sunnies? You'll get more than enough wear out of them.

We’ve selected the top places to shop for discounted and cheap designer sunglasses for women – and the savings are big.

Think 'Italian luxury' and it can only be Versace.

Iconic for decades, the label's globe-trotting, adventurous mood is anything but minimal – which is what makes its sunglasses so flat-out spectacular.

Of course, Italian grandeur comes with a hefty price tag: the label's most expensive sunnies retail for over £1,000!

That's not to say you can't find cheaper though. Versace's cheaper sunglasses are priced from £185 – while we've found some for even less over at John Lewis and Secret Sales.

Take a look below for Versace sunnies for as little as £97.

It all depends on the brand, but on our search, we were able to find designer sunglasses for under £100 from the likes of Versace – not bad going when their new-season specs can reach over £1,000!

Generally, if you search around and are prepared to shop sale and old season, you can expect to pick up a pair of designer sunnies in the region of £150 to £300.

You might think you have to head straight to the bargain bins, but visit the official website of your chosen designer and view its sunglasses range by low to high prices – you'll be surprised by what you can find, with many designers offering lower price points alongside their more luxe offerings.

Elsewhere, online retailers like Selfridges, John Lewis and Harvey Nichols will often hold older stock that has been discounted. And we were really impressed by the cheap sunglasses over at Secret Sales, which offer up to 80% off designer brands.

Designer sunglasses are an investment, so if you don't tend to splash out on designer all the time – it's definitely worth sticking to classic designs that won't date, as well as colours that will work with plenty of outfits.

Think cat-eye shapes for a touch of retro, round supersized styles for all-out glamour and aviator styles for laidback wear.

Having said that, shopping for cheap designer sunglasses is a chance to make a statement if your wardrobe is usually more budget-friendly – so if you want to 'peacock' with something a little more daring, then we say go for it!
